Car Tire Routine Maintenance Tips in Summer

In summer, the temperature of road surface is often above 70°C. Driving for a long time in hot summer is a test for car tires. Tires may be punctured frequently if used the tires having improper wear and tear. Talk to everyone today about the use of tires in summer.

As the road surface temperature is often above 70°C in summer. A car which has been traveling in hot summers for a long time, tires that are damaged or have weak spots are prone to puncture or rapid wear due to high tire pressure. Affected by the temperature, the tire gas will automatically expand, tire pressure will rise from 2.3 kg to 3 kg or more, in order to ensure the tire pressure, it is recommended to fill nitrogen in summer, filling pressure should be reduced by about 10%. It is advisable to check the tire pressure once a month. It is also advisable to check the time before the start of the morning car because the tire will completely cool down after 4 hours of standing and the measured air pressure is most accurate. If the tire pressure is too high, some gas will be released until the tire pressure matches the standard air pressure. If it is lower than the standard, you need to fill required amount of air.

Be careful to prevent overuse

When driving at high speed for a long time in summer, you should cool off your tires in a cool place after driving some distance. When driving hot in the noon, the speed should be properly reduced. Pay attention to the carrying capacity of the tires and never overload them. This will keep the tire pressure normal and will not overuse. The method of preventing overuse is also that the tires are regularly replaced after driving for a certain period of time in order to equalize the wear of the four wheels.

When parking in summer, the car should be parked in a location where there is no sun exposure for a long time. Because of long-term exposure to the sun exposure, tire rubber is exposed to sunlight and ultraviolet radiation will cause the rubber surface of the tire to age, and the risk of puncture increases. In addition, parking should ensure that all four wheels are parked on the same level of ground and must not be parked on a high and low road. Otherwise, the tire at the lowest position will be subjected to excessive pressure, causing deformation of the wire inside the tire and damage to the tire.

The tires are need to be cleaned regularly to prevent the presence of foreign objects in the groove of the tread pattern. Stones or foreign objects in the tread groove are removed to prevent deformation of the tire crown. Check whether the tire sidewall has flaws, stab wounds, and if the cord is exposed, replace it if necessary. If foreign objects such as nails are found in the tires, do not panic and do not rush to pull them out. You should immediately go to a professional tire shop for help.

Preventing punctures is especially important

The accident caused by a puncture in summer is normal phenomenon in highway accidents. Severe tire wear caused the carcass to be too thin, and the interior of the tire will be constantly heating. At this time, the tire may easily punctured by the object. In addition, the weather in summer obviously overheated, which make it possible to puncture the tire. However, in addition, tire bursts are also related to the following factors.

Insufficient tire pressure. If the tire pressure is insufficient, the sidewall of the tire is easily broken and burst. If it is inflated before the road, the tire leaks due to wear and dust on the valve what make the inner tire pressure is too low, which can easily lead to puncture.

Tire pressure too high. It can make the defects of the tire (such as the previously damaged part) burst, such phenomena is more common in hot summer weather or long hours.

Vehicle overloaded. The danger of overloading a vehicle with tires is self-evident. In addition to trucks, in fact, the car should also prevent too much people and things from being stuffed into the car.

Drive through sharp objects at high speed. When the vehicle is running at high speed, it is also a common cause of accident that tires rub against sharp stones or other sharp objects on the road surface, resulting in air leakage and puncturing.

Lastly, do not frequently perform abnormal accelerations such as sudden acceleration, sudden braking, and sharp steering. This can cause tires to rapidly deform and wear out too quickly, resulting in tire burst.

Tire can be properly upgraded

Life of the tires set by general manufacturers is between 80,000 and 100,000 kilometers (or about 5 years). However, the specific conditions are still determined by the driving conditions of the vehicle owner. Therefore, the wear condition of the tire must be checked regularly. Excessive tire wear should consider replacing tires to ensure safe driving. When changing tires, it is of course good to use the original ones, but upgrading them properly may have a better effect.

There are about two ways to upgrade. Quality Upgrade: Maintain the specifications of the original matching tires, but switch to higher grade tires to improve the quality of the tires, such as a more beautiful tread pattern, better drainage, less rolling noise or stronger gripping fertility and so on. Specification upgrade: In the scope of the license, upgrade the original car tire specification upwards, that is, increase the tire size. The purpose of this practice is to increase the grip in addition to the factory. Of course, it can make the overall appearance of the vehicle after the tire change more beautiful and more powerful. Normally, the specifications are upgraded while the quality is also upgraded.

It should be pointed out here that the upgrade of the specifications will bring about friction and fuel consumption increase, and the cost of buying tires will also increase. Therefore, before you can upgrade your car’s tires, you must carefully consider it. Fortunately, today’s major brands have different grades of products, there are clear reference coefficients given, you can find experts to make a recommendation before making the final decision.
